Independent Business Eligibility Policy

Overview

Momz & Popz is exclusively for independent food and beverage businesses. We define "independent" as a business that is privately owned, not affiliated with a national or regional chain, not operated under a franchise agreement, and actively serving customers in the food and/or beverage category. This policy defines the complete eligibility standards for platform participation.

Eligible Business Types

Family-owned restaurants, diners, and eateries

Independent coffee shops and espresso bars

Artisan bakeries and pastry shops

Independent food trucks and mobile kitchens

Craft breweries and taprooms

Independent wineries and cideries

Juice bars, smoothie bars, and wellness beverage shops

Home kitchens (where permitted by local law)

Specialty food shops, delis, and gourmet markets

Independent caterers and personal chefs

Farmers market and pop-up vendors (with qualifying criteria)

Independent cocktail lounges and neighborhood bars

Boba and bubble tea shops

Meal prep and specialty diet businesses

Independent ice cream parlors and dessert shops

Tea houses and herbal wellness shops

Candy shops and confectioneries

Distilleries (independent craft only)

Independent ethnic cuisine restaurants

Community-supported agriculture (CSA) food businesses

Not Eligible

National chain restaurants (regardless of local ownership claims)

Franchise locations of any national or regional brand

Corporate-owned multi-location chains with standardized menus

Ghost kitchens that do not operate a qualifying independent concept

Catering arms of hotels, stadiums, or large corporate entities

Businesses found to be misrepresenting their ownership structure

Businesses that have had prior applications rejected for fraud

Any business violating Momz & Popz platform standards or applicable law

Gray Areas & Special Cases

Multiple Locations

An independently owned business that operates multiple locations may qualify, provided all locations are owned and operated by the same independent owner or family, with no franchise or corporate chain affiliation.

Home-Based Kitchens

Home-based food businesses are eligible where legally permitted. Owners must provide documentation of applicable cottage food permits or home kitchen licenses.

Farmer's Market Vendors

Vendors who sell at farmers markets qualify if they operate a qualifying independent food or beverage business. Resellers of commercial products do not qualify.

Ghost Kitchens

Virtual restaurant concepts operating out of shared kitchen spaces may qualify if they represent an independently owned food concept, not a franchise or chain concept produced in a shared kitchen.

Eligibility Disputes

If you believe a business listed on the platform does not meet eligibility requirements, you may report it to trust@mompopzlife.com. We investigate all reports and take appropriate action, including removal, if a business is found to be ineligible.
